Summary

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts a National Entrance Test (NET) exam known as TISSNET. The exam is conducted for all Masters programmes offered in TISS campuses at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Hyderabad, Guwahati, IMHST Chennai, MHAT Calicut and G-SET Ranchi.

TISS does not offer any MBA programme. Instead, it offers MA in Human Resources Management and Labour Relations (HRM & LR) programme at its Mumbai campus. It also offers various other Masters degrees.

TISS-NET is a computer-based entrance exam. The entrance test consists of objective questions related to Social Sensitivity, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Knowledge on Contemporary issues. The exam is held for 100 minutes (1-hour & 40 minutes).
Candidates are first shortlisted on the basis of TISS NET scores. They are later called for Pre-Written Test or/and Personal Interviews.

Eligibility

Here’s the eligibility criteria for TISSNET Exam:
a) Candidates with bachelor’s degree (minimum of three years duration) or equivalent from a recognised university are eligible to apply.
b) At the time of applying, candidates studying in three-year degree programmes should have passed all subjects from first to fourth semesters; while candidates studying in four-year degree programmes should have passed in all subjects for first to sixth semester

c) Only those candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by the first week of June are eligible to apply to all the programme.
d) There’s no age limit for TISSNET exam.
Till the time the candidate submit results of the final year degree examination, admission to any of the Master’s Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional, informed the official website. Those who fail to do so the provisional admission stands cancelled.


Process

Step 1: Fill the Application form
Candidates willing to appear for TISSNET Exam need to fill in the application form. Candidates must note that the same can be done online only by visiting the official website.
The application fee for TISSNET Exam is Rs 1030. Candidates interested in filling the application form can pay the fee by any of the following modes:
• Net Banking
• Credit Card
• Debit Card
Step 2: Download TISSNET Admit Card
Candidates who register successfully for the exam will receive their admit cards from December onwards. The same can be downloaded from the official website of TISS. Candidates must remember that the admit card is an important document that needs to be carried to the exam hall.
Step 3: Appear for TISSNET
Once the aspirant registers successfully for the exam and receives the admit card, he/she needs to appear for the exam. The exam has been scheduled for the month of January

The test will be conducted for 1 hour 40 minutes, and test-takers will be asked questions related to Social Sensitivity, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Knowledge on Contemporary issues.
Step 4: Check TISSNET Result
Test-takers can get to know about the result of the exam on February. The result has been declared on the official website of TISS. Candidates can view their scorecards by entering their user ID and password.
Step 5: Pre-Interview Test / Group Discussion (GD)
Candidates who clear TISSNET exam are called for the Pre-Interview Test (PIT) / Group Discussion round. The PIT can be conducted in the form of a Written Test or a Group Discussion. The duration of PIT is generally 35-40 minutes. For some courses, the PIT consists of 2 sections- Essay writing and a short case study with questions based on it.
Step 6: Personal Interview (PI)
Candidates who clear the PIT/GD round are then called for the Personal Interview. Here, candidates are asked questions about their past academic record, the program for which they have applied to, and their future plans.

Exam Centers

TISSNET is usually conducted at 39 exam centers across India. Candidates can mark their preferences while filling in the application form.

However, the final allotment of seats shall be done on the basis of the total number of applicants. The institute has the right to change the exam centre according to availability of seats.


Exam Pattern

TISSNET exam pattern is as follows:
1.The paper will consist of 100 multiple choice questions related to subjects of Social Sensitivity, Logical Reasoning, Analytical Ability and Knowledge on Contemporary issues
2.The duration of the test is 100 minutes i.e 1 hour and 40 minutes
3.There is no negative marking

Shortlisted candidates (those qualifying TISSNET) will be called for Pre-Written Test and Personal Interview. For Pre-Written Test, candidates will be given two sections to attempt.
Section one will involve essay writing on a given theme related to contemporary socio-political, economic, cultural and political significance must contain less than 1000 words.
Section two will comprise of questions related to given case study.
After the written test, the candidates will have to appear for personal interview.

Exam Analysis

The online test TISSNET was conducted successfully on January 04, 2020. TISSNET is the prerequisite for the admission to the M.A. Human Resource Management which is the flagship course at TISS Mumbai. TISS offers various other programs in the specialized areas of Social Work, Social Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Human Resources Management and Labor Relations, Globalization and Labor, etc. This year TISS-MAT has also been introduced to get admission in MA (HRM & LR) or MA (ODCL) offered at the Mumbai Campus.

Application Form

Candidates willing to appear for TISSNET need to fill in the application form. It must be noted that it is important to submit the application form before the deadline as late entries will not be entertained by the officials. Also, it is important to check the eligibility criteria before applying.
Aspirants can register online by filling e-Application form available on the official website. Candidates can apply for three programmes in two TISS Campuses. Students also have the option to fill for multiple programmes in one online application form.
Test Fees:The application fee for TISSNET is Rs 1030 for 1 programme
Candidates belonging to SC and ST category, whose parent’s/guardian’s annual income is less than Rs 2.5 Lakh while candidates belonging to OBC category, whose parent’s annual income is below than Rs 1 lakh are required to pay Rs 250 as application fee.
In case of payment through cash deposit in an SBI branch, Rs 50 will be included as processing fee.

Mode of Payment
The mode of payment can be either in the form of SBI Challan/online payment through Net Banking/ Credit /Debit Card.
The steps to fill the application form online are as follows:
Visit the official website of TISS
Create an account on TISS portal. For the same, the candidate needs to provide his/her Email ID and password
Login using the same credentials
Fill in all the required personal details and academic qualifications
Upload an image of the signature, passport size photograph & documents
Click to ‘Proceed to Payment’ and pay the application fee as per the mode of your choice
Review the details and click on ‘Submit’
The steps to fill the application form offline are as follows:
Candidates need to get a printed copy of the form from the Institute
Next, the candidate needs to register for the exam. For the same, the candidate needs to send request for the form through speed post along with the application fee at the following address:

The candidate shall receive the application form within a week via speed post
The application form needs to be filled in carefully and Xeroxed copies of all the required documents need to be attached. The documents should be attested by any School Headmaster or a Principal of College or a Gazetted Officer
Once all the details have been filled and the documents have been attached, the same needs to be sent via speed post at the same address mentioned above
Candidates will receive Information related to TISSNET Admit Card later on the registered email ID


Admit Card

Candidates must note that the admit card can be accessed only by those candidates who register successfully for the exam.
The admit card will be available online on the official website of TISS and candidates will also receive a link on their registered email ID to access the same.
The steps to access the admit card are mentioned below:
Visit the official website of TISS
Click on the ‘Admit Card’ tab
The candidate will get redirected to a login page
Here, the candidate needs to enter the e-mail ID and password and login using these credentials
The admit card will appear on the screen
Take a printout of the admit card
Once the admit card has been printed, candidates must check all the details mentioned on it. The details that need to be checked are:
1.Name of the candidate
2.Registration number
3.Category
4.Location
5.Date of exam
6.Time of exam
7.Exam centre name & address
8.Photograph
9.Signature
10.Instructions related to the exam
If any details is missing or is incorrect, the same needs to be reported immediately to the authorities. In case a candidate does not receive the admit card by second week of January, he/she must request for a duplicate TISSNET admit card at the earliest.
Candidate must remember that the admit card is an important document that needs to be carried to the exam hall. Failing to do so will exempt the candidate from appearing in the exam.
