IIM Bangalore breaks into Top 50 in QS EMBA World Rankings

Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore has secured 36th rank this year from the previous year’s 61st rank in the QS EMBA World Rankings 2020. Thus IIM Bangalore breaks into the Top 50 Global B-schools. The annual list of the worlds leading Executive MBA was released by the London-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). A total of 161 programmes were ranked, of which 141 were single-provider programmes and a separate list of 20 joint programmes was included and were released.

IIM Bangalore’s EPGP program has been ranked under the QS EMBA rankings. The rankings measure the management programs for the executives who have prior work experience. In Indian business schools (B-schools) they have their conventional flagship programmes which are open for both freshers as well as working professionals. However, they also run an executive management program or MBA for a duration of one year that is strictly meant for the people with prior work experience of anywhere between five and ten years or beyond.

 

 

The parameters of EMBA ranking include a weightage of five metric groups which consists of employer reputation, thought leadership, executive profile, career outcomes, and diversity. The weightage of each of these metric fields are 30% for employer reputation, thought leadership and executive profile hold a weightage of 25% and 15%, respectively. Career outcomes and diversity hold the rest of 20% and 10%, respectively.

IIM Bangalore has performed exceptionally in the career outcomes metric, which measures the extent to which the graduates of a specific program enjoy promotions and salary increases. IIM Bangalore scored a total of 86.8/100 in the ranking indices. This ranking procedure demonstrates that the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore has the capacity to enhance the employment prospects of its students. The global ranking system benefits the Bussiness School tremendously as the school’s commitment to invoking thought leadership and offering distinct career outcomes and opportunities is recognized in the process.

Apart from IIM Bangalore, there were two other new Indian entries into the EMBA rankings list this year. Indian School of Business (ISB) debuting at 81st position, while IIM Kozhikode ranks in the 101+ grouping have put India on the global education map.

Globally, The Wharton School maintains its rank as the world’s best B-school, while Spain’s IESE Business School and France’s HEC Paris hold the 2nd and 3rd rank respectively. According to the list, Europe is home to top-class generators of executive business professionals in the world. National University of Singapore Business School which offers Asia’s leading Executive MBA program jumped up by three places and stands at the 15th position. Asia’s CUHK Business School which went up by seven places has secured the 17th position, thus, globally breaking itself into the top 20s.

However, the list shows us that the Executive MBA sector is still dominated by the institutions in the United States (US), and in the United Kingdom (UK). About 62 of the total 141 single-provider programs ranked in the QS EMBA World Rankings list this year were offered by the American or British providers.
