How to deal with situations – uncomfortable question/answer you don’t know (IIM WAT PI Experience)
If you’re stumped by a question, it’s advisable to either admit your ignorance of the subject/question or respond with a humorous retort. “I was grilled on automobile engineering, and I didn’t know the answers,” an IIM Ahmedabad student, says of her PI experience at IIM Indore. I gently informed them that I had no response. They were harsh with me and continued asking me the same questions over and over. They finally moved on to the next subject.”
Unexpected questions may arise, and you may find yourself unsure of how to respond. The objective is to structure your response around relevant subjects and steer the conversation in that direction. An IIM Bangalore student, used to work in the camera team at Samsung. While she had anticipated questions concerning photography and technology in relation to that and her work experience, one of the panellists asked, “Why are millennials so obsessed with snapping pictures?”
Sharing her answer, student said “This wasn’t a question I had expected, but since I had previously read an article about millennials, I was able to successfully manage the topic in the way I wanted to,” Meghna says in her response. Although it is hard to anticipate every question that may be asked during the interview, it is critical to ensure that the fundamentals are addressed and to remain cool. The interview can then be turned into a debate, and a degree of familiarity between the interviewers and the interviewee can be established.”
