Avoid these Mistakes to Crack CMAT Exam

The CMAT exam is regarded as one of the simpler MBA entry exams. It is held after the CAT, XAT, IIFT, and NMAT, making it even more bearable because the candidates have already taken other aptitude tests. However, if one does not pay close attention, they may find themselves in an unfavorable circumstance during the exam. The difficulty level of the questions may cause sweaty hands. So, the most important thing to remember is to remain confident and cool. Also, be informed of the exam process.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to administer the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) computer-based exam. To ace the exam with a high percentile, candidates must take numerous CMAT mock tests and review the previous year’s CMAT exam analysis to grasp the paper pattern and also various types of questions that will be asked on the exam day. It will help the applicants in exam strategy, learning time management, and a variety of other areas. So, if you want to get admission to your dream school you must give your 200% in the CMAT exam preparation from now itself. As we all know ‘BETTER LATE THAN NEVER’.

Few CMAT Exam Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Not knowing how many efforts are optimum. It’s like trying to build a house without a blueprint. You must have a good sense of how many efforts you intend to make. Because the CMAT comprises 100 questions, you should aim for around 70.
  • Being overly optimistic in terms of the number of attempts. The rule for CMAT is simple that you should focus on your ACCURACY more than anything. Any student who attempts more than 70 questions is either a possible high performer or a total disaster. Don’t try to answer all of the questions.
  • Do not be concerned about the GK segment and do not over-prepare for it. It is the most arbitrary element, and your score will represent your ingrained reading habit as well as your overall awareness.

  • Attending the CMAT exam without proper mock test preparation is the biggest mistake a candidate can do. So you must take at least ten CMAT mock tests of varied difficulties which will prepare you for every challenge that may arise throughout the exam on the day of your CMAT exam.
  • Having a predetermined absolute target score (for example, 200+). The total scores would be determined by the complexity of the CMAT question paper. What is important is your ranking, not your score. So, after reading the material once, set a goal score.
  • On the day before the CMAT, don’t study too hard. Get at least seven to eight hours of sleep.
  • Don’t be put off by a poor start. The CMAT is a three-hour long exam with no sectional time limits or cut-off scores. So, even if you have a bad start, you may quickly recover if you remain calm.
  • Do not attempt too many questions in the Language Comprehension portion, especially the critical thinking ones. For most pupils, fifteen decent attempts in this portion would suffice.
