How to prepare for CAT DILR?

Your overall focus is dependent on practice for this section. But, there are Some guidelines that you definitely need to follow:

  1. You have learned that there are questions about bar graphs present in this section, so for this, you need to learn in detail how each type of graph is read and how data is represented on each of these graphs.
  2. Also, you need to master the concepts of areas which require conceptual clarity e.g. Venn diagrams, Critical path problems, binary logic (knights and knaves), logical conditions, etc.
  3. Be consistent and Practice at least one to two LR or DI sets every day, starting from easy level to Moderate level to difficult level with the complexity increasing every few days.

Quantitative Aptitude :

How to prepare for CAT Quant?

Some guidelines that you can follow for the QA section are provided below as this section requires a mix of conceptual understanding and a lot of practice:

  1. There are certain core areas that you need to Master and even the concepts of those core areas. Practice basic questions from the school level i.e from the book of Grade 9 and Grade 10. Even, NCERT textbooks for mathematics, until you are sufficiently comfortable.
  2. Until and unless you are sure of solving questions using conventional methods, do not try shortcuts for any of the questions.
  3. While you practice various questions, Try to mix questions from multiple chapters
  4. Whichever question you solve or come across, try understanding its solution.
  5. For every question, match your approach with the one given in the solution. This will help you by giving you newer ways to solve problems.

Mock Tests :

Every week you conduct mock tests from the beginning, and later, when there are fewer months left for CAT 2023 exam, you’ve to take mock tests frequently i.e weekly twice, or thrice. But, after each mock, you need to thoroughly analyze those mocks in order to know :

  1. where you stand
  2. what are your areas of improvement
  3. are you on the right path
  4. is your strategy right
  5. What should your study plan be till the next mock

Some broad points to be checked are:

  1. 1) Attempts – overall and sectional (i.e how you’re going to attempt, whether you’re attempting the test section-wise or entirely from start).
  2.  Accuracy – how accurate you’re from the start you’ve to note it.
  3. Time management – how well you do that i.e how you can even cover small parts from the section to do every day.
  4. Question selection – with which question do you’ve to go ahead i.e easy to Moderate to difficult level
  5. Strengths and weaknesses – which are your strong areas, where you can ace the area, and where you cannot understand that.
  6. Targeted work for each concept – you’ve set a specific target for each concept, and you’ve to check whether you’ve achieved it or not.
