Targeting IIMs – a quick read
This video is for students who are aiming for any of the IIMs
It is very important to stay aware about what is the criteria that IIMs have and where do you stand in terms of your past profile and what needs to be done
If you have 7or above in your 10th and 12th, you are good to go. Even if your graduation scores are low, many IIMs have eliminated graduation scores from their criteria.
Also, even CAT scores only matter mainly for getting a call. After which during the final selection, the weightage for CAT score reduces to around 30%. At that time, its all about your personality.

There are 19 IIMs and many other great colleges like FMS, SP Jain, etc. Each of them gives multiple calls which means there are thousands of calls that are rolled out.
There were 2,30,000 people who filled the form CAT 2021 but only 1,93,000 of them appeared for the same.
The reason for telling you all of this is to keep you aware and motivated that despite the tension created around the whole process of getting into a school, you still get multiple opportunities to get into one and the weightage of each parameter Is distributed as such that even if you have messed up somewhere it can be covered up by doing well in others.
Now, for the ones targeting IIMs – A,B,C. The target is simple – above 99 for normal category non-engineers. If you GEM, then aim for 99.5% or above. Some GEM’s do get extra points for having work experience. For freshers, no need to worry as almost all IIMs have at least 20% fresher.
Ok, enough of preaching, for now, start working hard and gradually increase the time you put in and it’s important to find a guru/ mentor who you can relate to and understand.
