NEET and JEE 2020 will not be postponed: Delhi Lt Governor
Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal has asked the center to go ahead and conduct JEE, NEET exams in Delhi. The Lt Governor has rejected the state government’s proposal to postpone the exams amid pandemic.
Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal refused the Delhi government’s request to postpone NEET, JEE Exam 2020, and allowed the city to conduct the entrance exams. His decision to continue with the exams came in the light of the Delhi government’s protest to student safety in the middle of the pandemic.
The proposal was rejected on Saturday during the Delhi Disaster Management Act, DDMA meeting. While talking to PTI, sources said, “The Delhi Government, in its file sent to the L-G on Saturday, recommended that exams should not be conducted with a view to student welfare” . Delhi Chief Minister had also decided against holding JEE and NEET in view of the pandemic. However, the L-G returned the file giving his permission to hold the exams.
The entrance exams will be held around the country in September for 24 lakh applicants. Many state governments are making arrangements for students that include transportation facilities, reopening of hotels for aspirants who will appear for the exams among others.
Meanwhile, IIT Delhi Director has appealed to their alumni to come forward and help needy students reach their examination centers on time.
