What is the significance of Festivals?

National Festivals of India

Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, and Republic Day are three national festivals celebrated in India. Each of these festivals has its own importance. The day in which India got Independence on August 15 of every year is celebrated as Independence Day. Republic Day honours the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic.

 

 

Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 marks the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, who is considered to be one of the most prominent leaders of the Indian Independence movement. Every year on October 2, India celebrates the birth of its iconic leader Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
