What is the difference between CAT VS other MBA exams?

Let us look at the comparison

     CAT V/S NMAT

NMAT is widely given for NMIMS Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad campuses. Whereas, CAT is accepted by many prestigious colleges all over India. NMAT gives you three attempts for the same exam which has both an advantage and a disadvantage. As the NMAT exam is scheduled in a 75-day test window, you can write the NMAT exam in 3   attempts to bring up your scores if you are not satisfied with your previous attempts’ scores. Your best score among the 3 attempts is taken into consideration. The exam application fee is INR 2000 + applicable taxes per attempt.   You need to pay the exam application fees for each individual attempt you wish to appear for, while CAT offers only one attempt eliminating the drawback of the high examination fees.

If your score meets the cut-off range or above it, you get calls for Case discussion and Personal Interview from the schools that you have applied to. You need to ace the Case Discussion and Personal Interview in order to get into     NMIMS. The tuition fee of the NMIMS Mumbai campus is around 19L for two years.

The average placements are recorded to be 17-18LPA as of 2020.

If you crack Common Aptitude Test and get into colleges like JBIMS (2.4L+ for 2 years) and FMS (54K+ for 2       years) To conclude, the only plus point of NMAT is the people appearing are less, we have 3 attempts – hence more chances to score.

NMAT exam pattern and difficulty level

The NMAT is of 120 minutes. It consists of Quantitative Ability(48 questions to be attempted in 60 minutes). Verbal Ability (32 questions to be attempted in 22 minutes). And Logical Reasoning (40 questions to be attempted in 38 minutes). Clearly, this exam highly judges you on your solving speed. You get approximately 45 seconds per question. Meanwhile, the difficulty level of this exam is considered to be easy to moderate. Once started, you cannot navigate from one section to another.

CAT V/S CET

CET (Common Entrance Test) is a domestic exam that is of 150 minutes. It consists of Quantitative Ability (50 questions), Verbal Ability(50 questions), Logical Reasoning (75 questions including puzzles), and Abstract Reasoning (25 questions). It is a 200 marks paper. CET too is a highly speed-based game as you get only 45 seconds per question.

CET is highly unpredictable when it comes to the difficulty level. The paper is set by different examination conducting bodies almost every year. On the other hand, CAT has a difficulty level set. It gives you enough time – 100 questions (180 minutes). Hence, CET is many times considered as a speed test, accuracy here only matters if speed is up to the mark. CET covers colleges only in Maharashtra with only a few good ones like- JBIMS, KJ Somaiya, and Sydhenem. The only plus point of CET is that it has no negative marking (+1 for each correct answer) while CAT has +3 marks for every correct answer while -1 for each wrong answer.
